STYLE GUIDE AND PROTOCOL FOR HEADGEAR FOR GUESTS

One of the topics that generates the most questions among our clients and about which we receive frequent inquiries is how to wear a headdress appropriately and elegantly.
Fascinators are a symbol of class and style that we should all try at least once. But do we really know how to wear them? In this blog, we'll teach you practical tips and suggestions so you can wear your headpiece with complete confidence and security, depending on your outfit or the formality of the event. And who knows, it might become a great ally to take your guest looks to the next level.

1. WHICH SIDE DO WE WEAR OUR HEADPIECES?
Whenever possible, it's best to place it on the right side of our head. This is usually for practical reasons, as our companion will usually hold us by the left arm. Therefore, our accessory should not interfere with their vision.

2. WHEN DO WE REMOVE OUR HEADPIECES OR HATS?
At a morning wedding, protocol dictates that the headpiece must be worn during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and lunch. However, if we wear a headpiece that is too large, or isolates or bothers a guest, then common sense prevails, and the rest of the guests at your table will not only not notice that you have broken protocol, but will actually appreciate it. Otherwise, it should be worn until the bride and groom's dance. If we wear a jeweled headpiece or a small one, it will remain worn throughout the wedding and become, as they say, "a homecoming."
3. WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE VEIL OR HAIRNET?
We leave it until after the appetizer or cocktail. Once it's finished, we can put it away.

4. HAIR DOWN OR UP ?
In general, we should always wear our hair in a ponytail, bun, or half-updo—whichever you prefer and feel most comfortable with. Aside from the aesthetic appeal and the more polished and elegant look, the headpiece is usually better secured if your hair is up rather than down, as is usually achieved with combs or bobby pins. Plus, your headpiece will look even better this way!

Only in the case of some designs such as turbans or headbands, is it allowed to wear it loose or in the case of some more youthful guest looks.

5. WHAT TYPE OF HEADPIECE SHOULD I CHOOSE FOR A WEDDING ACCORDING TO ITS SCHEDULE?
For daytime weddings, hats or headpieces that protect us from the sun. For evening weddings, headpieces of a modest size but with a touch of gold, silver, rhinestones, or even feathers... Never, ever, wear a wide-brimmed hat or similar.
Always keep in mind that as the day progresses, the headdress should become smaller and that it should not be removed throughout the ceremony.

6. WHAT CANNOT BE WEARED WHEN USING A HEADPIECE?
First, sunglasses. The purpose of a headdress, aside from being decorative, is to prevent the sun from bothering your eyes, so we're skipping this accessory. With a large hat or a heavy headdress, it's better to wear thin, small, and elegant earrings. No extra-large earrings.

7. HOW MANY TYPES OF HEADGEAR ARE THERE?
  • Pamelas.
  • Hats.
  • Boaters.
  • Combs.
  • Ties
  • Headbands.
  • Caps.

8. HOW DO I PRESERVE MY HEADPIECE?
Place it in a box or a large container. It's very important to leave a few centimeters on each side so that it doesn't become cramped and therefore deformed. Pad the box you'll be storing it in to ensure it's secure. Use, for example, tissue paper that you'll wrinkle slightly to preserve the shape of your headdress. Store the box in a dry, damp place.
